Stanley Ballard’s VT Pottery – Wed. Feb 8th 6:30pm

In this engaging and informative lecture, Vintage Inspired Marketplace vendor, Tom Jiamachello, offers insights into the extraordinary work of Vermont potter, Stanley Ballard.
Vermont studio potter Stanley Ballard (1917-1960) produced a body of work that has attracted national attention from collectors of Mid-century pottery.
Stanley Ballard graduated from Alfred University’s highly respected Ceramic Program in 1939, having studied there while these influential teachers were part of the faculty: Marion Fosdick, Charles Harder, Clarence Merritt, and C. Katherine Nelson.
Ballard’s first studio was in Burlington’s Old North End. By the early 1950s, he had progressed to a store on Shelburne Road near Holmes Raod. At age 43, Ballard’s career ended with his untimely tragic death in February 1960. He was featured in the Summer 1953 issue of Vermont Life.
His work is most widely available here in Vermont, particularly in the Burlington area. Come see a selection of Ballard’s work–from early studio ware to later production pieces–from Tom Jiamachello’s collection of 750 pieces.
Cost: Free!
